October 18, 2024 Dear San Marco Church Family: As I continue the process of getting to know many of you, it is easy for me to get excited about the future. We have a church of very intelligent, gifted people. Our church is in a great location. We have tenants who use our building to promote the arts, and I see great potential developing these relationships. It is especially exciting to see that Lumen Theatre is performing Cadillac Crew at our church. I hope you will come and enjoy some live theatre! The play explores important aspects of the civil rights movement and the role of women in the movement. Our church is preparing flood buckets for those who suffered damage from Hurricane Milton. The supplies are at the church, and there will be a “bucket packing” party in the parlor on Sunday morning prior to the service. I also heard a rumor that the Jaguars game will be on in the parlor starting at 9:30am, just like last week. Regardless of the outcome of the game, the good company and the service opportunity are good reasons to show up! This Sunday, October 20, is Laity Sunday in the United Methodist Church. I am so grateful to serve a church with so many faithful, capable people. The concept of “the priesthood of all believers” is an idea that I take seriously. We are all called to a life of ministry, and the only true “expert” on matters of faith is Jesus. I am especially grateful to Bryan Amerling, who is preaching this Sunday. Thank you Bryan!
